Safe connection between the EX sensor and the IQ Easy system

The Simco-ION Barrier Box is used with Sensor IQ Easy 2.0 EX when static electricity must be measured continuously inside a hazardous area.

The EX sensor is installed inside the classified area, while the Barrier Box is positioned outside the hazardous area. The box provides the necessary electrical interface between the sensor and the IQ Easy system and limits the electrical energy supplied to the sensor segments.

The Barrier Box is therefore not a standalone measuring instrument. It is a necessary part of the system when Sensor IQ Easy 2.0 EX must be connected safely to Manager IQ Easy or Smart SLC IQ 4.

Selecting the correct version

The Barrier Box is available in versions for one, two, three or four sensor segments. The correct version is selected according to the number of measuring points on the EX sensor and the required division of the material web.

The box is powered by 24 V DC through an M12 connection. A multicolour LED provides the operator with a quick indication of the current operating status.

The Barrier Box is only required for the EX version of the sensor. For measurements outside hazardous areas, the standard Sensor IQ Easy is used without a Barrier Box.
