Vortec Cooling Vests, also known as Air Flow Cooling Vests, are compressed air-powered cooling vests designed for workers in hot and demanding environments.
Because it uses vortex tube technology, a Vortec Cooling Vest may also be referred to as a vortex cooling vest, vortex tube cooling vest or vortex air cooling vest.
The vests are particularly suitable for foundries and metalworking, welding, industrial painting, powder coating, power plants, boiler rooms, warehouses, construction, mining and shipyards.
The cooling vests continuously distribute cold air around the upper body, helping to minimise heat stress and fatigue while improving worker comfort, concentration and productivity.
Why is effective personal cooling important?
High temperatures, physically demanding work and the use of personal protective equipment can make it difficult for workers to regulate their body temperature. This may result in discomfort, fatigue and reduced concentration.
The vest cools the worker directly without requiring the temperature of the entire working environment to be regulated. This makes it particularly suitable for processes where heat is necessary or difficult to avoid.
The system consists of a cooling tube and a perforated vest. Filtered compressed air enters the cooling tube, where Vortec’s vortex tube technology separates it into hot and cold air streams. The cold air is directed into the vest and distributed evenly around the upper body through its perforated inner lining.
The solution only requires access to filtered compressed air from a suitable compressor and connects easily using a quick-connect coupling. No electrical connection, batteries or refrigerants are required at the point of use.
The temperature can be adjusted using the integrated control knob – even while wearing work gloves. The vest’s lightweight and flexible design provides unrestricted movement and allows it to be worn underneath other protective equipment.
Vortec Cooling Vests are available in Large, X-Large and 2X-Large, with cooling capacities of either 440 or 733 W.
Please note: Vortec Cooling Vests are not approved for use as part of a supplied-air respirator (SAR) system.
