Sensor IQ Easy – static charge measurement for Closed Loop Feedback

Sensor IQ Easy from Simco-ION is a sensor bar for continuously measuring static charge on moving materials. The sensor is integrated into the IQ Easy Platform and enables the operator to monitor static charge directly during the production process.

Unlike a handheld measuring instrument, Sensor IQ Easy is permanently installed alongside the material web. It can therefore measure continuously and identify changes that only occur at specific speeds or with particular materials and production conditions.

The sensor can be configured with up to 16 individual measuring segments. This makes it possible to monitor different areas across a wide material web and identify local differences in static charge.

Measurement and Closed Loop Feedback

Sensor IQ Easy can be connected to Manager IQ Easy or Smart SLC IQ 4. Measurement data, operating status and alarms are then available through the central IQ Easy system.

With Closed Loop Feedback, the measurement is used to regulate compatible ionizing bars. The system can continuously adjust the ionization to maintain a low and stable level of residual static charge.

The sensor has a recommended working distance of 10–300 mm and is available in lengths of up to five metres. An optional air purge system can be selected for applications where dust or contamination could otherwise affect the sensor heads.

Sensor IQ Easy is intended for standard industrial environments. For measurements inside a classified hazardous area, Sensor IQ Easy 2.0 EX must be used together with a Barrier Box.
