What is the Simco Top Gun 3 ionizing air gun used for?
The Simco Top Gun 3 ionizing air gun is designed for manual workstations where static electricity, dust and loose particles must be removed in a single operation.
The gun combines ionization with compressed air. Static charges are neutralized, making dust and contamination easier to blow away while reducing immediate re-attraction to the surface.
Officially designated Top Gun III, the Simco-ION Top Gun ionizing air gun is intended for light industrial applications such as plastics, packaging and electronics. It is particularly relevant for manual cleaning within a working distance of up to 300 mm when a dedicated 5 kV AC system is required.
When do we recommend Top Gun 3?
Top Gun 3 is particularly suitable when:
- cleaning is performed manually by an operator
- both static electricity and dust must be removed
- the working area is within approximately 300 mm
- a dedicated 5 kV AC system is required
- the Sidekick option can improve a repetitive process
For permanent, automatic neutralization on a machine or across a moving web, a fixed ionizing bar, ionizing nozzle or ionizing air blower should normally be considered.
Equipment used in potentially explosive areas must have the appropriate documented ATEX approval.
Top Gun 3, Cleanflex Easy or Cobra?
For most new installations, Cleanflex Easy is normally our first recommendation. Cleanflex Easy operates on 24 V DC, requires no separate power unit and comes with a four-year warranty.
Top Gun 3 is relevant when a manual 5 kV AC solution, an integrated air filter, adjustable airflow or hands-free Sidekick operation is required.
Cobra should be considered for installations that already use a compatible Simco-ION AC system or where robust construction and continuous use are important.
Ergonomic operation and clean compressed air
Top Gun 3 has a light-touch trigger and weighs approximately 0.8 kg, including its three-metre cable. Both the gun and the cable are static dissipative, and a hanger is supplied for convenient storage at the workstation.
An integrated 0.01 µm air filter helps ensure clean air at the gun outlet. Airflow can be adjusted directly on the gun, while a two-level LED indicates standby mode and active high voltage.
The combination of high ion delivery, effective blow-off force and low air consumption makes Top Gun 3 suitable for the precise cleaning of sensitive surfaces and components.
Hands-free operation with Top Gun Sidekick
Top Gun Sidekick enables hands-free operation. The gun is positioned using a flexible mounting bracket, while a foot pedal controls both ionization and airflow.
Sidekick is recommended for repetitive operations, stationary workstations and processes where the operator needs both hands free to handle the product.
Installation and operation
Top Gun 3 operates at 5 kV AC and must be connected to a dedicated Top Gun III power unit. One gun is connected to one power unit.
The compressed air must be clean, dry and free from oil and water. Maximum air pressure is 7 bar, and the specified ambient temperature is 0–40 °C.
Regular inspection of the air filter and cleaning of the emitter pins help maintain stable ionization and consistent performance.
