Detection bar for wider material webs
Small holes and electrically weak spots in plastic film can result in leaking packaging, rejected products and production problems. HD DET from Simco-ION is designed to detect perforations and pinholes across a larger area of a moving, non-conductive material web.
How HD DET works
HD DET contains multiple emitters with a resistor at each emitter. The bar is installed close to the material web and used with a grounded metal roller and an external CM5-30 high-voltage generator.
When a hole passes an emitter, a controlled spark-over occurs through the hole. The generator detects the spark-over and sends a signal to the machine PLC. The signal can be used for counting, alarms, machine stops, marking or rejection.
When is HD DET recommended?
HD DET is recommended when a larger area or a greater part of the material width must be inspected. The effective bar length is sized for the material web, making the solution suitable for bag-making machines and converting lines used for food packaging and airtight bags.
For a smaller and defined inspection area, Perfomaster is normally the simpler solution because its high-voltage source is integrated. HD DET is a separate detection bar and must be used with a generator, cables and grounded metal roller.
HD DET has a maximum operating voltage of 30 kV and must therefore be used with CM5-30. CM5-60 must not be used as a more powerful upgrade for HD DET.
