Ensure even coating with EDI Extrusion Coating & Laminating Dies
Comprehending the necessity of maintenance personnel in the operation process during extrusion coating, has led to the robust and innovative systems that are needed to guarantee an advanced profile control, while being operated without difficulty. Ensuring that a product leaves with an adequate amount of coating, often leads to the recurring problem of getting just the right amount, but without flooding or starving the edges of the substrate. The EDI Extrusion Coating & Laminating Dies are designed specifically to prevent overflowing amounts of polymer at the edges, since it will result in higher amounts of material waste. Insufficient amounts of polymer at the edges leads to the risk of process instability.
Through effective coating and laminating control in terms of width, thickness and flow of substrate, processors will be able to adjust the amount of trim required for the given product. To do so utilizing the right tools and materials can prove vital to the process.
Nordson is dedicated to supplying innovative solutions that’ll allow for optimization through the processors themselves. The EPC™ die systems have specific designs to facilitate the goal of minimizing the amount of trim that’s needed, while making sure that a uniform layer of polymer is distributed. This will lead to less waste and therefore yield higher profits.
Minimize Trim Width
The EPC™ die swiftly enables producers to adjust products width by adjusting the internal deckle blade system, and therefore resulting in the production flow being controlled at the ends of the die. By fine-tuning individual components within the deckle blade assembly, edge beads can be minimized to an almost negligible amount.
Increase Extruder Uptime
The EPC™ deckle features a limited amount of fasteners that simplifies access to the die bodies and reduces downtime. For cleaning, the deckle assemblies are designed for quick retraction of all components, allowing production workers to easily insert a customized brass scraper into the die lip gap for thorough and efficient cleaning.
