Aerostat XC2 Blower – Ionizing air blower for wide-area ESD protection
Simco Aerostat XC2 is a self-balancing ionizing air blower for neutralizing static electricity across larger work areas. It is designed for workstations with sensitive electronics and for inspection, testing, assembly and packaging processes where electrostatic charge can damage components, displace small parts or cause dust and plastic film to cling.

When do we recommend the Aerostat XC2?
The Aerostat XC2 is particularly relevant when a complete work surface requires coverage and stable ion balance is important to process reliability or ESD protection. Typical applications include:
- Electronics production and handling of ESD-sensitive components
- Inspection, testing, assembly and packaging workstations
- Semiconductor, flat-panel display and medical-device assembly
- Processes where dust is attracted, small parts jump or plastic films cling
- Tabletop use or fixed mounting above a larger work surface
Wide coverage and stable ion balance
The current datasheet specifies a coverage area of approximately 91 × 183 cm and effective coverage up to 1.83 m from the blower face. At high fan speed, the specified discharge time is 1.0 second at 30.5 cm, measured from 1,000 V to 100 V. Actual neutralization time depends on distance, position, fan speed, filter and operating conditions.
MicroPulse AC technology maintains ion balance around 0 ±10 V and is designed for sensitive components. This makes the Aerostat XC2 suitable where broad, stable ionization is required without routine manual calibration.
Mounting, power supply and positioning
The Aerostat XC2 has an integrated power supply and connects to 100–240 V AC, 50/60 Hz through a grounded outlet. No external power unit or compressed-air supply is required. The adjustable stand supports free tabletop placement, fixed mounting to a work surface or overhead mounting.
The manual normally recommends positioning the blower approximately 0.3–1.3 m from the target area. The ionized airflow should have a clear path to the target, with at least approximately 150 mm of clearance behind the blower for air intake. Position and fan speed should always be verified in the actual process.
Monitoring and straightforward maintenance
Fan speed can be set to low, medium or high. Front-panel LEDs indicate power, ionization faults and fan stall, while the FMS relay contact enables status monitoring through a Facility Monitoring System. An audible alarm and heater are available as factory options.
The built-in emitter cleaner simplifies periodic maintenance. An optional air filter can be useful in specific environments, but it reduces airflow performance and may increase discharge time. Filter, distance and fan speed should therefore be assessed together.
When should another ionizing blower be selected?
For smaller, localized workstations, MinION 2 may be the more compact solution. For higher output and a reach of up to 3 m, consider Phoenix 2.0, while VolumION is relevant for high airflow and continuous industrial operation. Aerostat XC2 must not be used in explosive environments; select an approved solution such as HP-N-EX for those applications.
Get the right configuration and position
To select and position the Aerostat XC2 correctly, we should know the dimensions of the work area, the distance to the target, the material and process, the ESD requirements, and whether tabletop or overhead mounting, an air filter, heater, audible alarm or FMS monitoring is needed.
