Friction Shafts & Rings – Precise Rewinding & Web Tensioning
Friction shafts are a crucial component in roll slitters, which are used for processing materials like paper and plastic film. These shafts are meticulously crafted with a precise cylindrical body and felt tracks to support the friction rings. The rings play a vital role in compensating for tension in each of the individually cut strips, enabling the rewinding of multiple independent rolls on the same shaft.
When rewinding multiple rolls of materials such as plastic film or paper, it’s common to encounter significant variations in thickness and tension. Friction shafts solve this problem by ensuring precise rewinding and uniform web tension for each roll. By securing each roll onto one or more friction rings, these shafts maintain accurate control of web tension across the rolls.
Friction rings are available in two materials – aluminum or steel – depending on the ring’s width. An internal ball bearing enhances the durability and smoothness of the ring, even in aluminum constructions. The inner diameter of the rings is tailored to match the shaft’s diameter, and we can typically provide rings that fit your existing friction shaft.
In summary, the use of friction shafts and rings results in enhanced efficiency, cost savings, and improved product quality, making them an invaluable addition to rewinding operations.
Friction Shafts
Dimensions: Friction shafts feature a precise cylindrical body and felt tracks that support the friction rings The inner diameter of the rings varies according to the shaft’s diameter, with sizes ranging from 50 mm, 70 mm, 3″, 4″, 5″, to 6″.
Materials: Constructed from steel, these shafts offer exceptional durability and stability.
Friction rings
Dimensions: Available in widths of 25 mm and 50 mm, and core diameters of 3″, 4″, 5″, 6″, and 8″.
Materials: Crafted from steel or aluminum, with stainless steel ball for enhanced durability.
Capabilities: Designed for high-speed operation and concentric retention. These rings are compatible with a wide range of materials, including plastic film, paper and other materials. The spring-loaded ball lock design minimizes lateral movement during setup and operation, ensuring consistent performance even at high speeds.
Overall, friction shafts and rings are engineered to provide precise rewinding and uniform tensioning of materials for each roll. Thereby ensuring proper tension control and elevating the overall efficiency and quality of the rewinding process.
